Normal variation day: buying tail at the low, prior singles capped the high, value rotated lower

NIFTY futures opened below the prior day's range, rejected 22555 with a buying tail, then extended up through the IB only to stall at the prior session's unrepaired single prints near 22814. The rest of the day rotated inside a D-shaped profile with value overlapping lower, so neither side won control.

How the day unfolded

  1. Low probed, buying tail left · A–B · 09:15–10:15
The open sat below the prior day's range, and A probed down to 22555 before buyers pushed back. That left an 8-row buying tail, excess that ended the downside auction. B made a new high and set a wide 140-point IB.
  2. Extension up into prior supply · C–E · 10:15–11:45
C broke the IB high and D ran to 22814.3, straight into the unrepaired single prints from 21 October. The zone held. E stalled at the same level and closed on its low, leaving a poor high with no tail.
  3. Sellers press to value low · F–G · 11:45–12:45
F was the day's only initiative selling period and dropped toward 22610. G held just above that, and the break of the morning VWAP at 12:20 got only 3 points of follow-through. Sellers could not extend.
  4. Two-sided rotation, close mid-range · H–M · 12:45–15:30
H spiked toward the highs and failed. A large sell print at 22740.1 was absorbed, and price rotated back. K and L repeated the swing, and the close settled mid-range, just above session VWAP.

Why it happened

Prior single prints capped the rally
The previous session's fast-move zone acted as supply. Two periods stopped there, so the upside auction stalled without excess.
High 22814.3 in D, E high 22813; prior singles 22800–22825 tested and held; poor high true
Excess at the low rejected lower prices
Buyers responded hard in A, ending the downside auction early. Range extension came only on the upside after that.
Buying tail 22555–22595, 8 rows, excessLow true; extension up 119.3, down 0
Value overlapped lower: balance, not trend
Value slipped below the prior POC but overlapped prior value. Both sides traded, and neither was accepted away.
Value 22640–22755, POC 22670 (−45 pts), OVERLAPPING_LOWER; shape D; 11 of 12 periods rotation
Heavy volume inside a balance
Above-normal trade with no directional follow-through means volume was exchanged two-sidedly. This is the signature of a fair-value search.
Volume ratio 1.45; close 22711.4 in the middle, above VWAP 22687.3
Timeframes disagreed
The 10-day migration is up, but price sits below the swing VWAP and far below the multi-day balances. That left no clear other-timeframe driver.
LTF migration +425 up; swing VWAP 22768.9 above price; read NEUTRAL (ltf +1, value −1, initiative −1)

What this day teaches

Excess ends an auction; a poor high leaves unfinished business
The low ended with an 8-row buying tail and was never revisited, while the high at 22814.3 was flat across two periods with no tail.
Single prints from prior sessions are references the market returns to
The rally stopped exactly in the 21 October single prints at 22800–22825, which acted as supply.
Overlapping value with a D shape means balance
Value overlapped the prior day's, the POC sat mid-profile, and every push from either side rotated back toward 22670.

Limits: The new L2 balance (22600–22810) has no acceptance yet (accepted null), so its direction is unknown. · The large print's initial positioning is null and its OI change faded, so it adds little to the read.
